Cool, Calm and Connected
Equine-assisted learning and animal-assisted activities at Goxhill Meadows offers an innovative and effective way for children, young people and adults to build relationships and to engage in learning with our ponies and other animals in the natural outdoor environment. The skills developed here with us can help young people meet their full potential and provide them with improved social and emotional skills that will allow them to participate more effectively in their everyday lives.
Some of the key benefits of equine-assisted learning and animal-assisted activities for children and young people are:
- Increased self-esteem, self-confidence and independence
- Improved understanding of non-verbal communication and boundaries
- Enhanced self-awareness and responsibility for actions
- Development of social skills and co-operation
- Improvement of coping strategies for new situations and transitions
- Promotion of sensory and emotional regulation

For Individual Pupils
Sessions run all year round and are bespoke to meet the specific needs of the pupil. In our nurturing environment, our sessions can be delivered for sessions lasting between 1 to 3 hours per week ( or fortnight) over a period of a minimum of 4 weeks. Learning outcomes can focus on social and emotional needs, particular learning behaviours or specific learning or sensory issues. Sessions can also be focussed on particular outcomes for individuals e.g. as part of PEPs, EHCPs, Boxall Profile outcomes.
We welcome children and young people who are finding it challenging to access or remain in mainstream education, those with SEMH, children who are home-schooled, those looked after and individuals or group with SEND. When with us children are free to be themselves, giving them the ability to self-regulate and relax in their environment with confidence.
